The Different Keno Games
Keno is a game that is very much like the lottery and bingo combined. A player would simply purchase a keno card and mark numbers he or she would like to wager on. Then the player would simply wait for the numbers he or she has chosen to come up. If the keno player's numbers do come up he or she wins.
The difference of keno and lottery is that in keno you get to decide how many numbers you want to play. For example you can pick either 8 or 20 numbers. Unlike in lotto, it is standard to choose 6 digits to bet on. A keno winning ticket should also be claimed right after the game. Because if the player does not claim his or her winning ticket immediately it would be considered void.
There are also 6 different games of keno to choose from. They are: Straight Tickets, Split Tickets, Way Tickets, King Tickets, Combination Tickets, and Special Tickets.
This article will explain further the difference of each keno game.
Straight Tickets:
A straight keno ticket is the basic keno ticket. This ticket is also the most common ticket. As stated above you get to choose how many numbers you'd like to pick. There are some casinos that let players pick 1 to 15 numbers. But there are some that let you pick 20, 32 or even 40 numbers.
A tip for keno players is to play 4 to 8 numbers. Playing less than 4 numbers will give you a bad payoff rate. Picking 8 numbers makes your odds 230,115 to 1. Playing 9 numbers will give you odds of 1.38 million:1. Playing 15 numbers gives you odds of 428 billion:1.
You would then need to decide how much to wager. The common price of a keno straight ticket is a dollar. But there are some that are lower than 70 cents. One can also play the multiples of the base rate. For example you can buy a $1 ticket for $5 and your winning will be multiplied by 5.
However when playing a multiple base rate game casinos will not play more than the aggregate limit. For example the aggregate limit is $50,000; your winnings will never exceed $50,000.
Way Tickets:
There are only 2 reasons to play a way keno ticket game because it is very complicated. The first reason being is for its convenience. It is convenient for some to mark multiple games on a single ticket. The second reason is the fractional rates. A way ticket can be played for as little as 10 cents. The fractional rates of a way ticket is what makes it confusing.
Split Tickets:
It is two or more tickets played on the same keno ticket. Each split ticket is made up of a group of numbers that are separated by a line or circled. Each game has its own unique numbers. It should not share numbers with other groups. A split keno ticket game has no advantage compared to other keno ticket games. It just lets a player play more than one game on a single piece of paper. But its disadvantage is that you can not use the same number more than once.
King Tickets:
It is a keno ticket game that has one number circled by itself. The circled number is known as the King. The King number can be used as a combination for other groups of numbers on a ticket.
Combination Tickets:
It allows players to combine groups of straight bets on a single ticket in different ways. The player will then wager one unit for each possible combination. Keno players are also allowed to combine straight bets and a way bet on a single ticket.
Special Tickets:
A special keno ticket is usually offered by the casino to promote their keno games.
